Halsbrücke, July 2023 – make-up for a centenarian.
The management of Feinhütte Halsbrücke GmbH has announced extensive repair work on the "Hohe Esse".
"The chimney was already an environmental protection measure when it was built in 1889. Even today, we and a neighboring company still use the infrastructure for our cleaned process exhaust gases from the smelter. The impeccable condition of our infrastructure is a prerequisite for safe plant operation. For us, the preservation of our historic building is also a matter close to our hearts,” emphasizes Tobias Patzig.
The "Hohe Esse" was completed at 140 m as the highest chimney in the world in just 177 working days - and with the limited technical means in 1889. Since then it has been firmly anchored in the region as an important landmark, shapes the landscape and can even be found in the community logo.
The work will take place in July by the Dresden company S+F Bau GmbH. "In particular, repair work on the walls, securing work on the foot of the foundation, renewal of safety devices and repair of the lightning protection system are carried out. In addition, the day marking will be renewed so that the Hohe Esse is still clearly visible,” explains Dipl. Ing. Heitsch from the Dresden chimney company, explaining the scope of the work.
